Everything. Everyone. Everywhere. Ends.
A couple of years back D and I watched the complete series of Six Feet Under. For me there is life before and after watching this award winning series. I really believe it changed my relationship to my family and friends. I was a mess after watching this last episode... Watching this series is also how I came to love Tv-series, more than movies. You get to know these complex characters over time, -to love or hate them.
Anyways, if you have'nt seen this great series yet, but are planning to do so, I'll advise you not to watch this clip, so you don't spoil the ending.
Oh, and the music is great! Sia - breathe me.
Have a nice evening!

Productive Sunday
I am working like a mad man these days, producing lots of new jewelry to sell at a large crafts fair coming up in Oslo 4th and 5th of December. We almost sold out on everything we had last year at that market, so this year we're coming prepared. Or Sigrid is anyway. I'll be at work, unfortunately, so she'll have to push the jewelry to the masses ;-) Meanwhile supplies, pliars and glue is everywhere in my office. Last week the letter "K" stopped working on my keyboard, since a tiny metal piece I had chopped off from a chain got stuck under it. Anyways, I am enjoying being creative... as well as looking at the pile of new earrings, bracelets and necklaces growing by the hour!
Me and D also managed to watch the entire series of "An idiot abroad" this weekend, which was quite funny. If you have'nt seen it, and you'd like to see a travel program with a weird twist -go check it out!

Tooth
It has been very quiet for a few days both in our shop, as well as on the blog front. The reason why is simple. I had a wisdom tooth removed (-by force!!) by the dentist, and I have been in pain since. Today I celebrate the "one week aniversary" of the removal. -Yeey! Just two more to go. Sigh!
I'll be back this week though. With more jewelry and more posts.

weekens wants
I am visting my parents in my hometown this weekend, enjoying the fresh crisp air, and shopping with my mum. We've spent the day at a huge, indoors flea market where I found some really great boxes that I'll have to take some pictures of and show off here. Of course we had to do the "round" at the local mall, and I always end up at H&M, buying too much stuff.. -but I'm very happy with my finds! Since it's always colder in this town than in Oslo, I always make sure to pack warm clothes whenever going for a trip here. Above is some lovely autumn wear from modcloth that I am day dreaming about..

And then there was snow...
Last night we had this winters first snow in Oslo. Today we woke up to a lovely cold and clear day with the city dressed up in a cake frosting-look.. beautiful! It's time to put the sandals and the shorts into the storage, and check if we have a decent amount of wollen socks left from last winter. I absolutely love the change of seasons... Colder weather and less daylight means I can spend more time with some of my "friends"..

Busy bee..
I am currently changing the look on the product pictures in the shop, doing almost everything all over again. I want the background to be slightly darker than before, more rustique, matching the shop banner. The tiny shabby cupboard I bought at a flea market a couple of weeks ago is doing the job just fine!

Sun in my window
We are having a fantastic fall in Oslo. The sun is shining, and the sky has that lovely blue color that comes with colder weather... or maybe it just looks more blue against the exploding fireworks of fall colors on the trees. I love the fall. I love to bundle up in long jackets, scarves, and finally make use of my fabulous boots..Here's a glimpse of my little office ("limerommet"), with a view of this fantastic big tree, about to lose it's fall jacket..

Nicknacks..
My home is not a very romantic nor very feminin decorated home. It's been sensibly furnished, and our love for movies, music and our hobbies are reflected in the decor. I am not a shabby chic girl when it comes to interior design. I love reading interior magazines where people show off their perfect houses, in their perfect, matching clothes, with the inevitable perfect matching kids and golden retriever. But I could never live like that. I need a clean slate, some free, not overfilled space, so that I am able to create something new. Right away, whenever I want, without having to clear out piles of decor first.
However, I easily fall in love with nicknacks. When shop browsing, I have learned to be really strict with my shop impulses, so that the house will not fill up with ornamented vases and boxes. But lately I have discovered this candle holder from Rice.. and I don't think I have the strength in me to resist if I come across this in a shop. Is'nt it awsome??

Troublesome Volcanic Ashes
The Eyjafjallajokull glacier in Iceland makes things go a little slow here in Scandinavia at the moment. The airspace has actually been closed, since the ashes from Iceland is drifting over some parts of Norway now, and is spreading to Great Britain, and northern Europe.

We ask our customers to be a little bit patient when waiting for any orders placed after 14th of April, since this also affects the airmail .. naturally. Hopefully the postal service has a plan. We'll keep you posted!
Our Prime minister is actually "stranded" in New Youk right now, and can't get home, while the ashes is hanging over us.. 0-1 to Mother Nature, I guess.

Our shop name
"Everyday Glory" is actually the name of a song by Rush, on of my favorite bands. I remember borrowing a Rush cd "Counterparts" from my older brother when I was about 15, and I LOVED it right away, -still do. Ever since I've had a weak spot in my heart for prog pop, rock and metal.
The song "Everyday Glory" is really a little bit sad, but so many good memories have been made with this song as the soundtrack, so it only makes me happy whenever listening to it.
Check out Rush's site if you'd like to check them out.
Everyday glory
In the house where nobody laughs
And nobody sleeps
In the house where love lies dying
And the shadows creep
A little girl hides shaking
With her hands on her ears
Pushing back the tears
'Til the pain disappears
Mama says some ugly words
Daddy pounds the wall
They can fight about their little girl later
Right now they don't care at all
No matter what they say...
No matter what they say...
No matter what they say...
No matter what they say...
Everyday people
Everyday shame
Everyday promise shot down in flames
Everyday sunrise
Another everyday story
Rise from the ashes and blaze
In everyday glory
In the city where nobody smiles
And nobody dreams
In the city where desperation
Drives the bored to extremes
Just one spark of decency
Against a starless night
One glow of hope and dignity
A child can follow the light
No matter what they say...
No matter what they say...
No matter what they say...
No matter what they say...
Everyday people
Everyday shame
Everyday promise shot down in flames
Everyday sunrise
Another everyday story
Rise from the ashes and blaze
In everyday glory
If the future's looking dark
We're the ones who have to shine
If there's no one in control
We're the ones who draw the line
Though we live in trying times
We're the ones who have to try
Though we know that time has wings
We're the ones who have to fly...

Big in Japan
Last night I watched a documentary on the Canadian band Anvil with Sigrid. Although I've seen it once before, it made me all fuzzy and warm again. One word: Dedication. I think every person who's ever played in a band that never made it to the charts (... or even just pretended to play guitar whenever listening to Gary Moore in they're pink room as a kid...) will probably love this film.
But the film is also about lifelong friendships, and family support... -And big 80's hair do's, man!

Got me a rack!
Yesterday I went for a long walk and got me a jewelry rack! It sure makes taking photos of earrings a lot easier. And speaking of earrings, this lot will soon be avaliable at Everyday Glory.
It all of a sudden hit me that I've been ordering a lot of jewelry supplies lately, which will soon arrive.. and I still have a LOT of supplies here in boxes and drawers that I need to make use of. So please; if you see anything you like in the shop, and would like it just a tad different, don't hesitate to let us know! Chances are that we can make it just the way you want it.

Laid back..
I've taken two days off from work. At this time of year the schools and kindergardens close for one week (winter vacation), so that the residents can go skiing and visit their cabins up in the mountains (-or desperatly look for babysitters if they have to work). It's only about a month away from the Easter break, but we love our holidays over here!
Anyways, I don't have a cabin, I've got skis, but this winter I have'nt used them at all. Instead I've decided to enjoy my little vacation at home, making wonton today, taking pictures, explore this great asian food store I've discovered, go for walks in cold wintery Oslo, -which is really pretty! I'll be making more stuff for our store (that goes without saying), tidy up out storage room, pack orders .... and I must try not to watch too much Tori & Dean, I guess!

Annoyed
Annoyance is an unpleasant mental state that is characterized by such effects as irritation and distraction from one's conscious thinking. It can lead to emotions such as frustration and anger. The property of being easily annoyed is called petulance, and something which annoys is called a nuisance. (from wikipedia)
It really annoyes me that I've started to care if Tori and Dean gets their house ready in time for their next kid to arrive.

A good week
I had a pretty good week. It's been snowing like crazy and been quite windy since Wednesday, but today it finally stopped, and everything was pretty and white again. And cold.. On Thursday I went to see Rammstein playing at Valhall. Completely cold out. 13000 fans from all over Norway, by the sound and look of it. All though I've never been a huge fan, I've got to say that it was pretty spectacular to watch those guys! They play a tight show, and the numberous explotions, all the smoke and flamethrowers can make ones jaw drop to the floor. I think being Rammsteins pyro technician must be the coolest job in the whole, wide world. Nothing wrong with my job, but really...!
Today I helped Sigrid with a little demolition work on her kitchen. She's bought a new one at IKEA, and since it's being delivered tomorrow, she had her work cut out today. We managed to tear down most of the cupboards, and I especially want to give her credit for her way of seeing all items in her kitchen as potential tools. Her bread knife together with the hammer served as a handy tool to remove the things that really stuck to the wall.. Who needs a man, or a carpenter-demolition-guy right?

More jewelry on it's way
This weekend I managed to take 100's of pictures of new jewelry for our store, and some of them turned out quite good..
Mew concert
We (Sigrid, Ane, Dylan and a small gang of other friends), went to see the Danish band Mew performing last night ar Sentrum Scene. I think I've said it before, but I'll happily say it again: They Are Truly Great! If you have not, for some reason checked them out yet, you should. Their music is beautiful, dreamy, clever, weired and all that is good. The guy who's singing never once sang off key, and the band is playing everything so well, making it look oh so easy and fun, and really: there is nothing about their music that says "simple". Part of their show is these really weired videos of strange animals and characters doing even stranger things, projected on to the backdrop. I read somewhere that this is partly because the guy who's singing is really shy, and does'nt crave the attention that other singers might. It's a clever way to relieve him from some of the focus, and also help underline the music, and making the experience even greater. I think I must have been smiling the whole concert, because when it was over, my cheeks were hurting.
Here's their MySpace site And here's one of their newest videos Repeaterbeater
So there it is. Recommendations of the day.
